Lantern Festival

Today is the 15th day of Chinese New Year. It is the end of the new year and also Lantern Festival(元宵節) as this is the day to appreciate the Laterns and eat glutinous rice ball (Yuan Xiao) with family. So I just prepare dinner for Ceci and myself. The most important dish is this glutinous rice ball.

Remembered I was looking for the home-made glutinous rice ball all over Singapore during my first Latern Festival here in 2002. In the end, KT suggested China Town, where we should definitely find it as that's the traditional food for Chinese. After searching along the road, we finally found it at a small stall by the roadside. Seems that is quite a famous one and tasted not too bad. This is my 5th Lantern Festival here. How many more would I have in Singapore?? Good Question!!

Steven's House Warming Party

This afternoon I went to Steven's house warming party which is my 3rd one in the past 2 weeks. Seems quite a number of people are looking for a better living environment and it's great that they found the ones they like also.

Steven's new place is a new condominium at west coast with nice decoration and view. He invited all our colleagues and it's great to have some other activities with colleagues after work I guess.

I also need to look for another place as we need to move out from our current place by the end of March. This early afternoon, Patrick, Ceci and I also went to see another house at Kovan which is about three MRT stations away from my current place. It's also a terrance house but a bit further in from the main road. Guess my current place is really too convenient in a way with MRT and bus station just outside. Though this new place is not so near, it's very quaint and near to Heardland Mall where I had my yoga and pilates class. Maybe it's also good for me to walk more as walking is one of the best exercises.

Looking at these few nice and new places, I started to think of having my own place also. I think that's about the sense of security that I always know I would have a place, my own home, waiting for me whenever I need. The funny thing is I seems to consider Singapore home instead of Taipei now. Maybe it's because my room at Taipei became the store room for my family already. I felt much more comfortable when back to Singapore. I have my own little space here. Or would I be thinking of having my own family now as I got many more friends getting married lately?? Haha... Seems I'm really going into the next stage of my life soon. Things seem to be getting different slowly.

Happy Birthday to Alex

Happy Birthday to Alex!!

We had a "surprise" birthday party for Alex yesterday night. Alex, Sandy, Grace and I shared an apartment at Novena when I first came to Singapore 4 years ago. That is a very interesting experience for me as that's my first time leaving home and living with friends by myself. The most interesting part is this special cake prepared by Beylene, Alex's wife to be. Everyone was so shocked when we first saw this cake. Anyway, that's a interesting night. I'm so busy lately and it's really nice to go out and chit chat with friends again.

BTW, congratulations to Alex and Beylene as they are getting married at the end of this month. We have been waiting for this for a long long time. : )

My OLD HOME, my grandma's place and where my dad grows up, was renovated by my uncle last year. We had a 2-story nice house now with wonderful decoration and setup at the North East Point of Taiwan. So I just invited a group of my close friends to visit our new nice place and join the celebration of welcoming 媽祖 to our village on the 8th day of Chinese New Year. People at our village all earn their livings from the sea. So we would worship 媽祖 as she is the protector for people living by the sea.

This trip, we have one new member as Julie was married last year. Warmest Welcome to Mr. Wong to join this unique AIESEC family.

We had a great lunch at home as my family is famous for having great seafood, especially 九孔, becuase my uncle is one of the biggest supplier for that in Taiwan. After that, we went out to walk around and to appreciate the beauty of Pacific Ocean. I always like going back home as I'm so relaxed and refreshed after seeing such a fantastic view. Guess I would try my best to participate the celebration in the following years and you guys are all invited if you happened to have time and in Taiwan on the 8th day of Chinese New Year. The FOOD is really very nice. haha.. ; )

Only went out to Julie's House Warming Party during my Chinese New Year holiday back home. Her place is really very nice with great decoration and furniture. It looks just like those 5 stars hotels. This is our first gathering after her wedding in mid Dec.

We are so lucky to have Michael to cook us his best dish, the ell wrapped with egg. We have been waiting for this dish for at least 6 years. He started talking about that when we were still in MC. Finally, we got the chance to taste it and it is really NICE.

Just a small advertisement for Michael that he is available now and planning to study in US later this year. So ladies whoever intersect in making friends with him can contact me directly. He is really good on both work and cooking. Highly Recommended ya.... : )

Surprise

It was really a surprise that I had a telephone conversation with my first boyfriend today. We sort of lost contact after I left for Singapore though we shared quite a number of common friends.

I always felt that I owe him an apology as I was so immature and childish at that time. I was not willing to devote myself into that relationship but expected everything and anything from him. That was my first relationship and it last only 6 months. We were at different places as he was studying in Kaohsiung, the south part of Taiwan. We only see each other 2 to 3 times during that 6 months. We didn't really have chance to know more about each other and I was so immature that I thought he should know me very well and meet all my demands all the time (but to be honest, I don't think I know what I really want at that time).

Anyway, it was great to talk to him again. We shared briefly what we have been through and the plan for the future. Great to know that he is doing well and sorry for my immature behaviours again.

Chinese New Year

This is the most special Chinese New Year I have ever had. I spent the past 7 days in hospital because my dad was hospitalized. He had a very serious diarrhea from the day before new year eve. So I sort of kidnapped him and send him to hospital. However, the situation is much worse than what I expected. They did a blood test and found out that he got a lot more problems such as high blood sugar because he got diabetes, low blood pressure, high cholesterol and a lot more.

The doctor was thinking of sending him to ICU but it's all full at that time. So they just arranged the normal room for him. At that point of time, I didn't realize how serious the whole situation was as I was busy with arranging the administration part and discussing with the doctor on the result of all the testing reports. Now, I thought back. It was really critical as all the testing results were quite negative.

My dad was really lucky that both my mom and me were at home on that day and the doctor is very experienced. I can't imagine if he was at home alone on that day.

I actually decided to stay in Singapore for another one to two years as I just started some important tasks on my job. Guess I would need to sort out another solution so that I can take care of both my dad and my work at the same time and it is really challenging.
